TEN (10) CHARACTERISTICS THAT MAKES A GREAT PROGRAMMER

10 CHARACTERISTICS THAT MAKES A GREAT PROGRAMMER

Good day, great mind! Today we will be learning some of the great qualities of great programmers or those qualities that most great programmers have. Thank you for reading to the end and for sharing this article. Okay, let’s kick it…

First of all these are not in any particular order, they are just based on my personal opinion and these qualities are commonly found in many programmers.

    1. PATIENCE: In programming, be it coding, networking, setup or just debugging, things don’t always go as planned. Most times, you will run into a problem that will take you hours or days, or even weeks to fix. And when you thought you are done with fixing the problem, you just noticed you have broken two more things as a result of fixing the initial problem. So you have to have a lot of patience to be able to cope with this kind of development/situation. Sometimes, to even figure out what the problem really is, can even take longer than solving the  problem itself. HINT: in programming, the QUESTION is more important than the ANSWER.

    2. PROBLEM SOLVING: If you are someone that is curious, you enjoy looking up for stuffs, then this is  a great profession for you. In general, if you are a pro in problem solving, then coding will just be an easy going thing for you. Most programmers are problem solvers but only a hand full of them are great in logic and problem solving. Logic and problem solving are one of the most essential characteristics of great programmers of all times. So how would you know if you have these qualities? Okay, if you are the type that your mp3 player or DVD player breaks down, you get into it and try to figure out what the problem is, even though you have little or no experience in fixing that particular piece of gadget, than I must say CONGRATULATIONS, you are a problem solver. Problem solvers are anxious, they are inquisitive. They want to know the WHY in every little thing. They pay attention to hidden details and hey!, they would rather broke something first, than not trying to fix it.

    3. Passion And Dedication: this is one of the most important feature of a great programmer. Having passion for it. In fact, I must say, if you don’t have enough passion and dedication for programming, you are likely to drop out along the way because programming can be dentine, tedious and hectic. It only take dedication to be able to follow all through. And when you don’t have enough passion for it, you might just be wondering, why the hell am I stressing myself over this shit?. Especially, when you just got started and probably not getting the pay you think you should. Programming is tough that it takes most of your solid time. And by solid, I mean, a lot of your time. Imagine staying up to 8 to 16 hours in front of a computer, typing coding and yet not getting bored. I mean, you have to really like it so much, to be able to do that.

    4. TEACHABLE: Alright, being teachable is also a very essential part of every programmers life because technology in general is always evolving so have the love/ passion of learning new things will really go along way to help you become a better programmer over time. If you are to bring back some of our great programmers from 10years back to fit in to our current time, they are going to be completely lost. Though, they might quickly comprehend the new technology but it still going to take them time to study and learn. 10years is even far, cause a lot has changed in the last 3 or 4 years ago.  So to be able to adapt and stay connected with the fast evolving technology, you need to study always and learn new things and strategy to better development.

    5. TEAM PLAYER: here, when I say team work, I mean being able to take suggestions from others, take feedback, work with other programmers, socialize with other programmers and general be an easy going type and not be proud or arrogant. Technology have change, time is gone when a guy sits on his computer and create sophisticated software that the world would use. These days, you have to be able to work as a team to get the most improved and efficient software. After all, they say, two good heads is better than one. No matter how much you know, you cant know it all because there are just a lot to learn and a little bit of specialization would make you a better programmer while you work with other programmers that has other area of specialization.

    6. NOT BEING ARROGANT: This is very important too. Most programmers are assholes. They feel they have arrived. They are the best. That no one can do what they can do. They think they no it all, while whenever you think you know it all, just remember you are not God, there is always a bit more to learn. And if care is not taken, in a little bit of time, you see yourself getting outdated. Those things you brag about becomes old technology and the new ones will take preeminent.  Being arrogant makes you to look down on other programmers, mostly up coming programmers and it makes it difficult for you to work with a team cause you will always disrespect them, no one will take such from you. There is no need of making someone feel bad because they made a mistake or because the way they approach a problem is not the same way you would have done it, perhaps, you could do it a better way. But that would be a reason for being a dike about it. Even if you must correct someone, do it with love and respect, and in turn, you will see the person will be more grateful to you than when you just want to show off yourself In fact, pride and arrogance are two things every programmer should avoid at all cost, no matter your class or what you think you have achieve, stay calm because there are other people who have achieved much more and yet, they stay cool. Humility will take you far while pride will take you down. And this is not just in programming but to life in general, always stay humble and you will get even much more.

    7. BE PROUD OF YOUR WORK: this one relates mostly to beginners who just started creating their own contents. You need to be confident about your work, even when it seems you are not completely sure about it. At least be proud of yourself that you could create something, even though it might not compete with the market but at least, you did something. Not everyone could do that. So no matter how small your work is, even if its just a static web site or you just finished a course project, be proud of it. In fact, no developer are more enticed by such work than even most of the sophisticated web application you see online today. So encourage yourself, go ahead and show what you can do. Let them criticize your work, it will make you a better programmer tomorrow. Guess what? No one started as a pro, no one is born a legend, no one is born a genius. Even though some people might know Math and logic more than the others, but that doesn’t mean that if you study and be deligent enough, you couldn’t get there. So encourage and be proud of the little you can do because there are people out there, who which they could do the little you know how to do.

    8. TIME/TASK MANAGEMENT: Time, they say is money. Anyone who have ever programmed before will agree with me that time has always been one of the major challenges of ever great programmer. Having to accomplish a lot within a small period of time is quite a very great character that every programmer must have. Time management together with Task management is your ability as a programmer to schedule your activities into smaller achievable units and carrying them out sequentially without having to procrastinate it. What makes a great programmer is NOT in writing great applications but in how much you could achieve in very little time. But most times, it is NOT how fast, but how well. Therefore, even though we are trying to beat time during production, we also must put into consideration the quality of our production.

    9. FOCUS: Distraction is no body’s friend, therefore, one MUST have quality of every great programmer is FOCUS. Personally, I think focus is everything. Many people who could not be programmers have problem with focus. While non-developers wonder how someone could stay on a computer screen for several hours debugging a piece of application. Its amazing how a programmer could code from eight to sixteen hours and never get tired or bored. And I’m not of the opinion that if you can not code that much, that you lack focus, NO!, I’m saying it can only take focus to do that. Truly speaking, when you focus your energy on a particular thing, you made great impact. Focus helps you to be consistent in what you do.

    10. Listen To Others: Now, whether you are a freelancer or professional developer, you definitely need to be able to communication with others. Yes!, most programmers are introverts, but that will not be a limitation for you not to socialize with other programmers. Because by just interacting with others, you are also developing yourself. No body knows it all, so by listening to others advise and suggestions can generally make you a better developer. As a developer, you need to be teachable, you need to go beyond being humble to being meet. Humility, I can define, in my own opinion to mean listening to those who have gone ahead of you, while Meekness, would be listening those who you are better of by far, but yet you pay attention to them, not in a bossy way, rather, in a way to learn from them. You might say, what the hell can I ever learn from them. Guess what? You can even learn from your students. Being able to learn from anyone and everyone is one of the great qualities of great programmers.

In Conclusion, you don’t need to have all these qualities, to become good in programming but having at least half of it can really go along way to making you a great programmer.

TOP THREE (3) PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES IN 2022

TOP THREE (3) PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES IN 2022
     Whether you are an absolute beginner wishing to start programming for the first time or you are already an experience programmer but looking to improve your skills in programming, this article is just for you. I have picked these three languages based on Google’s trance and based on various research and study. These are the most used programming language that offers you the best job opportunity. Of course, merely knowing a programming languages or learning a programming language is not enough to get you a job!. There are other factors to consider too, but that will be for another article.

Number one: PYTHON

Python is one of the most liked languages of all times. There are more than 6 million new software developers than join the python community every year. It has great support and documentation. The average salary for a python developer is $120,365 per year in the United states and $5,000 cash bonus per year. For example, stackoverflow rated it as the 25.7% most loved, dreaded and wanted language in 2019.
Reasons why python is rated as the best programming languages in 2019.
Python is beginner friendly and very easy to learn especially  for those who don’t want to become professional software engineers. A lot of Accountants, Engineers and scientists use python in their everyday activities.
Python is extremely best suited for machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). It is popular for Research, AI projects and Machine Learning. Anyone who wants to get into machine learning should definitely learn python. Professional web developers also use python to build highly salable web, desktop and mobile applications. Even though python is not the best language for building those kind of apps. But in a moment I will also tell you the best language for building such apps.
Python and a framework called Django are very popular for building back-ends programs and applications.
Python is very simple and free of clutter. Here is an example of a python code that allows the user to enter a number, and tells whether the number is Even or Odd number:

 num = int(input(“Please Enter a number: ”))
    if(num % 2) == 0:
            print(f”{num} is Even”)
    else:
            print(f”{num} is Odd”)

As you can see, it looks different from other programming languages and no curly braces, classes or modifies. It is extremely simple and free of  clutter. Here is the bottom-line, if you are an absolute  beginner or wants to start AI, python is the best language choice for you now.

Number Two: JAVA

Seriously, you might think java is dead, what about Kotlin? Well, they are not the same, you can clear your doubt with a simple google search. Kotlin is a fairly new programming language and is mostly used by new developers and it can not in any way replace Java. According to research, there are over 29,864 jobs for java developers in the US and also the average salary for a Java developer is $105,070 per year in the United States and $5,000 cash bonus per year.
Here are some reasons why Java is one of the most popular programming languages of all times:
It is used in enterprise application development. It is used by plenty of tech companies in the world to build large scale applications. Huge companies like twitter and many others, use Java in their Techstack. Which also means that finding a good job as a Java developer is fairly easy.
Java is also used in developing Native android application. If you are interested in developing native mobile android applications, then you should definitely go for Java.
Also, Java have  been a popular programming language for almost two decades, therefore it has a huge community support and you can easily get help online. In addition, there are tons of books and materials that will help you along the way of your development as a Java programmer. Here is a personal opinion, even if you don’t want to learn Java in full, simply knowing it and understanding its syntax will go along way to help you as a programmer because there are a lot of programs and applications written in Java. Things like, Data structures, algorithms, Design Patterns, Automated Testing, Architecture are based on java, that is why in my opinion, knowing Java is like knowing English. If you can speak English and understand it fairly enough, you can travel around the whole world.
Here is an example of a python code that allows the user to enter a number, and tells is the number is Even or Odd number:

package com.cybergate;
import java.util.scanner;
public class Main {
public staic void main(string[] args) {
    var scanner = new scanner(system.in);
    System.out.println(“Enter a number: “);
    int num = scanner.nextInt();
    if(num % 2 == 0)
         System.out.printLn(num +” is even);
    else
        System.out.printLn(num + “ is odd”);
}
}

Yeah, I know. The syntax is quite a bit, and that’s why it could be difficult for those who have not programmed before.
And here is the bottom-line, if you are interested in software development and building enterprise applications, Java is the best language for you.

Number Three: JavaScript

The next top programming language to learn in 2022 is JavaScript. For the seventh (7th) year in a role, JavaScript have ranked as the most popular programming language in the world with about 67.8% more popular than every other programming language. Researches have shown that the average salary for a JavaScript developer is $114,777 per year in the United states.
Here are the reasons why Java is one of the most popular programming languages of all times:
JavaScript is versatile. Which means you can use it to build various types of Mobile, desktop and web applications
JavaScript is very useful and popular in web/mobile application development. Using JavaScript and React Native, you can build cross platform mobile apps (i.e. iOS App and Android App with one code base). The code is simple to maintain. That is why a lot of companies use JavaScript today.
JavaScript also have a huge community and whenever you get stocked, there are plenty of people out there to help you.
Here is an example of a JavaScript code that prompts the user to enter a number, and tells if the number is Even or Odd number:

      let num = prompt("Please Enter a number", "");

if(num % 2 == 0){

        document.write(num + " is an Even Number");
}else{
        document.write(num + " is an Odd Number");
}

Here is the bottom-line, if you want to become a web developer, or to build cross-platform mobile applications, JavaScript is the best language for you.

In conclusion, Python is the best language for Machine learning and AI,
JAVA is best for Enterprise application development while
JavaScript is most suitable for web and cross-platform mobile applications.

Ten in demand technology for web development in 2022

*Good day Great minds*

I bring you greetings from *Cybergate Communication Network*. Today, I am led to share with you something that will help you to choose an ICT career either now or in the future.
So many a times, people who have interest in ICT do come to ask these questions;
¶ *where do I begin to learn from when it comes to computer knowledge?*

¶ *how do I start, since it has been long since I used a system?*

¶ *what and what do I need to kick start my training?*

¶ *where can I get experts that I can train with at an affordable price?*

Well, I hope to answer these questions today.
First, you need to study a program that is in demand, and will also be relevant in the next ten(10) years.
Here are the...
*LIST OF TEN IN-DEMAND PROGRAMS FOR 2020*

1. *CYBER SECURITY ENGINEERING*:
Due to the rise in cyber crime and hacking, organizations and companies are at risk of loosing their data or even worst at the hands of hackers and Internet fraudsters. Database security and Data protection is one of the most important factor to consider when building any internet related application. The demand for cyber security engineers is on the rise and will always be, unless the internet is no more.
2. *AI/MACHINE LEARNING*:
Artificial Intelligence/machine  learning engineering is one of the fastest rising technology of all times and is also by far one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult area of programming to learn as it involves a lot of math and algorithm. They also work along side with data scientists. AI can be used in all scope of programming ranging from web app to native apps and even far beyond that. Not to mention that to learn it, one has to be very Patience and learn more of OOP(object oriented programming) than procedural programming.
3. *FULL STACK WEB DEVELOPMENT*:
A full stack web developer is one who can work on both the frontend and backend of a web application. And if that sounds gibrish to you, just hold on a second.
Frontend deals with the UI(user interface) while backend talks about the functionality, dynamics and database management of a web application. And this is quit easy to learn, all you need is commitment and a company like Cybergate Communication Network to get you started with it. In Cybergate, we train you from scratch to guru. Register with us today and have a happy lifestyle.
4. *DATA SCIENTIST*:
Data science has been described as one of the best jobs in America. Its all about analysing and interpreting data. They also make use of AI and machine learning to analyse statistics of data. They also predict market economy and the statistics of commerce in most developed countries. They make a lot of money up to about $100grand per year.
5. *Devops Engineering*:
This is also a very technical area of programming that one could actually make a living from no matter how small you think it is. Devop is all about software development, testing, deployment and maintenance. Its a very rare aspect of programming and is also in high demand. And of course it requires a lot of techniques too.
6. *MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT*:
App dev is also a very technical aspect of programming and is also in high demand. Though the existence of hybrid apps is actually replacing it and might even completely replace it in future time. With the help of frameworks like React.js, Vue.js and Angular.js, PWA(progressive Web Application) is taking over the native applications. But mobile app dev is also worth venturing into.
7. *FRONTEND WEB DEVELOPMENT*:
Frontend web development have come to stay, unless by any reason the internet ceases to exist. Lol. Early 20th century, it was called web design, but with the recent techniques and technologies like bootstrap, vuetify, materialize, React, etc, it have become a more powerful tool in web development. And its so easy that you can start with your phone, WHAT!!!!, YES!  I mean the phone you are holding in your hand right now. Enroll with us today @Cybergate Communication Network, let's guide you into prosperity.
8. *CLOUD ENGINEER*:
Have you ever heard of the word SERVER, and have you ever wondered how search engines like Google work? Well, from in-house server to cloud networks. A cloud engineer uses more of the CLI (command line interface) than GUI( graphical user interface). They also use OS like Linus. With my experience in web dev, I can say that cloud hosting have come to stay. So its an aspect of programming that one can venture into and be sure that even in the future years, he will still be relevant.
9. *TECH LEAD/MANAGER*:
This special set of people are known to always get the job done. When it comes to the overall planning of software development and project management. They are good in algorithm and design. They also work as managers in software development companies. Usually, these requires more of experience than technicality or technical know-how.
10. *NETWORK AND SYSTEMS ADMIN*:
Usually, this is called Networking. Ranging from LAN, WAN, WIRELESS connections of all sort. They are very important in tech companies because they supervise the overall data flow and distribution. There are more to it than you can tell. Its a very vast area of ICT and is so much in demand in 2020.

Alright, now that you have seen all  these programs, which one interest you the most...?
